Every year in the month of October is considered to be a month of awareness about breast cancer and how to fight this deadly disease. A recent study done by FDA (Food and Drug Administration Agency) revealed that one of the breast implant replacement side effects could bring a rare form of illness called Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma or ALCL. This disease, attributed to breast implants, is not cancer. It is a form of lymphoma that harms the body’s white blood cells, also called as the T cells.
The Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma, according to medical literature, doctors and implant providers, is usually present among women who have undergone breast enlargement. The tumor does not originate from the bust itself but on the scar tissues around the breast implants. Fortunately, compared to the usual Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma, the ACLC due to breast implant replacement is not a lethal condition and can be cured easily with the use of modern methods of treatment.
As I mentioned it already, ALCL development brought about by breast implants occur to those women who have breast implant replacement due to the fluids around their implants that does not dried-up or go away. Even if it’s still unknown why implants may possibly cause for the formation of ACLC, medical researchers think that it comes from the shell of the implant (present in saline implants for they have silicone shell too) that may produce cancerous modification in the white blood cells. Yet, not enough evidence can justify if this is truly the root of the ACLC occurrence among ladies with breast implants.
To this day, about five to ten million of women allegedly obtained breast implants but only a small number have acquired ACLC. It is still not clear why implants could lead to ACLC. It’s recommend though for women experiencing problems with their implants to visit their cosmetic surgery and have a talk regarding the possibility of them getting a breast implant replacement or removal to help secure their implants status and their health too.
In this video, Mr Adrian Richards explains what are the reasons to consider Removal or Replacement of Breast Implants, who should consider the procedures and how would that affect the appearance of your breasts.
